The Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP) is committed to socio-economic development of the state and conservation & sustainable use of its rich biodiversity for expanding livelihood opportunities. In the recent decades, biotechnology has emerged as an important discipline with a greater hope for the future. The State envisages to harness the potential of biotechnology to fulfill its commitment. To achieve the above objective, Madhya Pradesh Biotechnology Council (MPBTC) was created in 2003. The Council is registered under Society Registration Act, 1973. It is functional since 2007. The Board of the Council is headed by the Honble Chief Minister. It also includes the Chief Secretary, Secretaries of various departments and four specialist members known for their contributions in the fields of biotechnology, industry, human resource and social / infrastructure development.
